Sirrah D Events presents the Tredz Downtown Race, hitting Penarth on Sunday 21st October 2007. It’s the second UK Downtown Race and the only time urban downhilling has hit Wales on this kind of scale.
The inaugural event took place at Bridgnorth last year (already being spoken about in hushed tones), and chief architect, David 'Chopper' Harris, is back to ensure that Penarth is set to outdo it. The 'saviour of UK mountain biking' is going to use all of his knowledge to create a better and more intense experience than ever before.
You’ve probably seen the infamous Lisbon Downtown Race on TV and maybe watched Gee Atherton beat a car to the finish line on Top Gear last year. Now is your chance to see pro-riders racing downhill at breakneck speed taking berms, steps and car jumps in a hard hitting street environment.
The event is open to riders of all abilities but there are only 300 spaces and it's first come first served (the mayor has got the 1st run, honestly). Practise runs from 9:00 - 11:00, with seeding starting at 11:15. Make sure you've got a good view by 2:00 - it's race time! Everyone else can catch the action on the huge outdoor screens being provided by Bay TV and listen to the voice of mountain biking in the UK, Dan Jarvis.
Have a look at last year's Lisboa:
